Nesbitt & Parrinello delivered research that powered two of the biggest Democratic victories of 2025. Our IE research operations in Virginia and Georgia helped power sweeping Democratic victories in both states, protecting constitutional rights in Virginia and breaking decades of Republican dominance in Georgia.
Protecting and Expanding Virginia’s Democratic Majority
Nesbitt & Parrinello provided critical research support for an independent expenditure campaign defending Virginia Democrats’ narrow House of Delegates majority. With Democrats entering the cycle with just a 51-49 seat advantage, every race was crucial for maintaining control and advancing key constitutional amendment measures on reproductive freedom, marriage equality, and voter re-enfranchisement.
We produced research books and media support across six pivotal districts: four Democratic holds and two potential flips. Our research gave our client detailed profiles that proved essential in these competitive races.
We also conducted research for the Democratic Attorney General nominee facing a tough statewide race, helping shift the conversation from personal controversies to what really mattered: the legal battles Virginia would face during Trump’s second term.
Democrats swept all six targeted House districts, not only protecting their existing majority but expanding it. This decisive victory ensured that Democrats can pass constitutional amendment measures for a second consecutive time in 2026, bringing critical protections for reproductive freedom, marriage equality, and voting rights to Virginia voters. The successful Attorney General race further strengthens the party’s ability to serve as a bulwark against federal extremism and protect Virginia families.
Georgia: Breaking Two Decades of Statewide Losses
In Georgia, N&P research helped Democrats break through with the first non-federal statewide wins in Georgia since 2006. Georgia ratepayers delivered a historic blow to utility industry dominance by electing Democratic candidates to both contested Public Service Commission seats with sweeping majorities — each candidate eclipsing 60% of the vote.
Nesbitt & Parrinello’s comprehensive research on incumbent commissioners exposed the connections between their anti-consumer voting patterns and utility industry relationships, providing the foundation for campaigns that successfully leveraged rising energy costs as a result of corporate-friendly politics. This intelligence proved crucial in helping Democratic campaigns make the case that Georgia families were paying the price for commissioners who served utility shareholders instead of ratepayers.
The massive Democratic victories in both PSC races serve as a powerful example of how Democrats can successfully leverage rising energy costs against corporate-aligned Republicans with effective research backing to uncover and link these findings.
