Protecting and Expanding Virginia’s Democratic Majority

In 2025, Nesbitt & Parrinello provided critical research support for an independent expenditure campaign defending Virginia Democrats’ narrow House of Delegates majority. With Democrats entering the cycle with just a 51-49 seat advantage, every race was crucial for maintaining control and advancing key constitutional amendment measures on reproductive freedom, marriage equality, and voter re-enfranchisement.

Our wide-ranging research operation produced targeted research books and research support for paid media on both Democratic and Republican candidates across six pivotal districts: four Democratic holds and two potential flips. The research provided detailed opposition and supportive profiles that proved essential in these competitive races where margins of victory were often razor-thin.

Beyond the legislative races, N&P also conducted research supporting the Democratic nominee for Attorney General, who faced a challenging statewide election, helping reframe the race away from personal controversies to the high-stakes legal battles facing Virginia during the second Trump administration.

The program achieved complete success: Democrats swept all six targeted House districts, not only protecting their existing majority but expanding it. This decisive victory ensured that Democrats can pass constitutional amendment measures for a second consecutive time in 2026, bringing critical protections for abortion rights, marriage equality, and voting rights to Virginia voters. The successful Attorney General race further strengthens the party’s ability to serve as a bulwark against federal extremism and protect Virginia families.
