In 2018, Nesbitt & Parrinello was the trusted provider for a national super PAC on a multi-million dollar effort to elect criminal justice reform advocates in North Carolina. Our engagement supported three progressive attorneys running in North Carolina. In one example, we provided research in support of a woman of color with 18 years of experience in criminal and family law. Our research gave the team insight into the candidate’s work for a state housing department, a department that was forced to reimburse the government $24 million for wrongfully spent funds. We prepared the team for negative communications related to a North Carolina State Auditor finding that “significant deficiencies” existed within the candidate’s department. With the support we bring to every engagement, the candidate went on to win this race and is now a leading voice for progressive bail reform and alternative sentencing in North Carolina.
