In 2008, Nesbitt Research was engaged to compile a self-research report for then-Rep. Joe Donnelly of Indiana. Nesbitt’s thorough review of Donnelly’s legislative record revealed a mixed-at-best legislative record on hot button issues of the time, including a vote for the Wall Street bailout and against LGBT discrimination protections in the workplace. But with Nesbitt in his war room, Donnelly was able to fend off upstart challenges from both his Republican opponent and an unusually strong third-party candidate. In the end, Donnelly maintained his seat with a commanding four-point victory and went on to represent Indiana in the U.S. Senate, where he still served until 2018.
